In the heart of Quang Nam province, twenty-two children—each with a story marked by poverty, family illness, or hardship—now have a place to call home. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of Huynh Tan Hung and his wife, these children are not only safe but thriving.
For 18 years, Mr. Hung and his wife have made their simple home a shelter for children from impoverished families in Quang Nam province, located in central Vietnam. He is a Vietnam War veteran who chose a life of helping those in need, especially children, as a way to “give back” to his community.
For the children living there, education is more than a dream; it's a lifeline. While public education in Vietnam is nominally “free,” the reality is far more complex. Families must cover school fees, uniforms, books, exam costs, and supplies—expenses well beyond the means of many. But thanks to CCI’s support, every school-age child at the Phu Ninh Children’s Home is able to attend school, fully equipped and prepared to learn.
