Due to widespread poverty and discrimination, even the brightest Tanzanian girls often are denied an education. Some 95% of them do not graduate from high school. In many families a son’s education is prioritized and girls are forced to stay at home and help with domestic chores until they marry.
Promising girls are selected for TGFT sponsorship in a Tanzanian boarding high school and university, including all school fees, textbooks and supplies, medical care and comprehensive support. Bolstered by their education, these remarkable girls and young women are learning to make informed and healthy decisions to transform their lives and their communities.
